Baby & children’s items Disposal in England

From cots and pushchairs to toys. Find out which council service fits the item and its materials.

Council Disposal Options for Baby & children’s items

Council collection

Describe the whole product, including electrical parts, batteries, upholstery, glass and detachable accessories. A mixed item may use a bulky route or a more specific service. Acceptance of its main material does not establish acceptance of the complete product.

Household recycling centres

Check the centre’s complete-item instructions before separating materials. A powered version of an otherwise simple product can need an electrical route. Confirm the actual construction and size instead of choosing a bay from the item’s appearance alone.

Preparation Checks for Baby & children’s items

Empty unrelated belongings and list separate components. Identify motors, batteries, liquid contents and upholstered parts without opening specialist assemblies. Ask for the destination’s preparation instructions before making irreversible changes.

Cots

Describe timber or metal construction, mattress and separate panels. A travel cot includes different materials from a rigid cot frame. Ask how dismantled sections and the mattress are counted.

Pushchairs

Describe the frame, seat, wheels and separate carrycot or accessories. A travel system can contain several items. Empty personal belongings and check the council’s mixed-item acceptance instructions.

Highchairs

Identify timber, plastic or upholstered seating, and any detachable tray. Upholstered domestic seating checks may be relevant to some versions. Do not assume every highchair has the same route.

Child car seats

Describe the seat and any separate base, padding or electrical components. A child car seat is not the same as a metal vehicle part. Confirm the council’s specific route for its mixed construction.

Baby & children’s items Collection Costs and Conditions

Check the confirmed route and the council’s counting method. A set or multi-part product can use several booking slots, while an electrical or specialist component may need a different service. No single national tariff is assumed.

The linked item guides include checked acceptance and published packages where verified. A council’s furniture tariff is not confirmation that every product in this category is accepted.
